Group Controller
Our client is a well-established Private Equity group inZug, Switzerland.
On behalf of our client, Swisslinx is seeking an experienced and highly capable Group Controller to join a dynamic and growing Private Equity group headquartered in Zug.
This is a key position within the finance function, reporting to the Group CFO, and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, efficiency, and development of the group's financial operations.
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in finance and tax, a strong process- and systems-mindset, and a hands-on approach suitable for a lean but high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the Swiss holding and several foreign sub-holding entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across the group.
- Liaise with finance teams and local controllers across jurisdictions (Switzerland, Netherlands, US, etc.) to coordinate consolidated financial processes and ensure high-quality group reporting.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of financial systems, including automation of reporting, internal control frameworks, and data governance (e.g., PowerBI, portfolio reporting tools).
- Coordinate audits and prepare statutory financial statements under Swiss, Dutch, and US accounting standards.
- Prepare and file tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT, Stamp Tax, FATCA) and manage correspondence with external tax advisors and authorities.
- Track investments, manage cash flow forecasts, and monitor performance benchmarks across portfolio entities.
- Support capital calls, fund distributions, and group-level liquidity and treasury planning.
- Contribute to commercial and legal structuring by assessing the financial implications of investment transactions and reviewing related documentation.
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies (AML, governance regulations, etc.) and group-wide organizational frameworks.
- Supervise and mentor junior finance team members, while supporting broader projects in IT, finance transformation, and process improvement.
- Serve as a sparring partner to the CFO and other senior stakeholders on strategic financial topics.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in accounting and financial management, including at least 2-3 years in a Controller or Finance Manager role within the investment management or financial services sector.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; relevant certifications such as Swiss CPA (Dipl. Wirtschaftsprüfer), ACCA, or CFA required.
- Fluent German and English are mandatory.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with modern ERP systems, data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI), and process automation is highly valued.
- Solid understanding of Swiss and international tax topics including VAT, WHT, CIT, Stamp Duty, and FATCA.
- Preferably trained in a Big 4 or large international audit/consulting environment with exposure to Swiss holding structures, private equity, financial instruments, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to take initiative and manage complex responsibilities independently while working collaboratively with stakeholders across functions and geographies.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a senior finance professional to make a significant impact within a fast-paced investment environment, while taking full ownership of group-level finance and controlling responsibilities.
