We're looking for a Asset Economist at VARO Energy. Hiring with Homerun.

Asset Economist

VARO Energy is an integrated fuel supply company, which refines, stores, blends and distributes oil products for the North West European market. The company owns a refinery in Cressier, Switzerland, a majority share in the Bayernoil refinery, Southern Germany, storage and blending facilities as well as distribution and marketing businesses in Benelux, France, Germany and Switzerland. VARO Energy’s shareholders include private investment company Reggeborgh; Carlyle International Energy Partners, an advisory fund, which is part of the global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group; and international energy and commodities company Vitol.

The main purpose of an Asset Economist (AE) is to be a first line of contact and a representative of VARO towards the refinery of Bayernoil as well as its shareholders and to be a vocal point of all day-to-day VARO refining and supply business activities. The AE is hence responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and resolving all

ad-hock problems in order to minimize value loss for VARO.

Furthermore, the key objective for an AE is to maximize commercial value to VARO by optimizing crude and feedstock processing, component blending and product manufacturing options arising from the dynamics of the oil trading market.

The ability to evaluate economic impact of different trading options using the refinery linear program (LP) and challenge refinery constraints within a tight deadline is a core function of an AE.

Moreover, the AE is responsible for developing an optimal monthly LP plan every week whilst considering existent constraints/potentials and subsequently publishing it to Bayernoil refinery as well as respective VARO stakeholders including all Supply and Trading departments.
